Synagogue Firebombing Suspect Had Blueprints for Camden County School: Prosecutors

Prosecutors say despite blueprints it doesn't appear teenage suspect had any plan to attack elementary school

Prosecutors say a teenager charged in a series of attacks on North Jersey synagogues had a blueprint for a Camden County public school marked up for an attack with the words “Project Anarchy” written on it.

The Record of Woodland Park reports a Bergen County prosecutor discussed the blueprint for John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Berlin, N.J. during a bail hearing Wednesday for Aakash Dalal. The prosecutor says the Camden County school blueprint was the first thing police found while searching Dalal's home.

Dalal had allegedly found the plans in a dumpster near his home, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors say there was no evidence that Dalal was targeting the school or planned to harm anyone or do damage to the school. But, due to the serious accusations against Dalal prosecutors say the felt a need to share the existence of the blueprints with county and federal authorities.

“Based on the Bergen County and federal investigation, Dalal’s alleged method and motivations did not include targeting elementary schools and there was no credible evidence to warrant any further actions or notification to the community,” said a release by the Prosecutor’s Office.

The 19-year-old has pleaded not guilty to charges of arson, bias intimidation and criminal mischief. The charges stem from a series of attacks on synagogues in Bergen County, including the firebombing of a rabbi's home.

Nineteen-year-old Anthony Graziano also has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Dalal's bail was kept at $2.5 million.
