Swimmers Rescued Off Rehoboth

A helicopter rescues man and woman drifting out to sea.

A Delaware State Police helicopter swooped in and rescued a couple drifting out to sea Sunday off the Delaware Coast. The two swimmers fell off their raft and the current carried them from Dewey Beach north to Rehoboth, according to Delaware State Police.

The man and woman were about three quarters of a mile out when the chopper dropped them a line and towed the two back to shore. The woman lost her grip on the line before reaching the beach, but another beach-goer helped pull her to shore.

Emergency crews checked the two over when they were out of the water. Both are fine.
