Suspected Gunman Arrested in Grays Ferry Shootout

Police arrested the suspect, Shekinah Williams, without incident Sunday

Philadelphia Police have arrested the man wanted in the shooting death of Clarice Douglas, a 45-year-old mother of two who was caught in the crossfire of a shootout between two men, police said.

Police arrested Shekinah Williams, 28, of the 2100 block of Sears Street Sunday. He was arrested in the 1600 block of South 16th Street without incident, according to a police spokeperson.

Douglas was standing in front of her home on the1500 block of S. Corlies Street in the Grays Ferry section of the city when the shooting happened around 2:45 p.m. on April 20.

Investigators say Douglas was shot several times and died at the hospital.

A second gunman was arrested after he was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to be treated for gunshot wounds on the afternoon of the shooting, police said.

A memorial now grows outside the Douglas home on Corlies Street to remember the mother of two.

State Senator Anthony Williams, Councilman Kenyatta Johnson, and the Citizen Crime Commission announced a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that led to an arrest.
