Suspect Charged in Rape, Motel Fire

The man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman at a Bucks County motel, then setting the room on fire to cover up the crime, is behind bars.

Alan Craig Williams, 32, turned himself into Trenton, N.J. police around 9 a.m. Thursday, authorities said. He is charged with rape, kidnapping and several other crimes for allegedly forcing a woman into the motel room at gunpoint late Tuesday night and sexually assaulting her.

The woman escaped through a bathroom window. She fled to a nearby 7-11 store and called police. Surveillance video from that same store caught clear pictures of Williams earlier in the night. Police are pursuing a search warrant to obtain DNA evidence.

Williams' bail is set at $500,000 and he's in the Bucks County Prison.
