Police have identified a man accused of trying to abduct a woman in Center City early Sunday morning.

The woman was walking her dog on the 200 block of S. 13th Street around 6 a.m. when a man, identified by police as 28-year-old Vaughn Omar Clark, pulled up next to her in a red vehicle, investigators said. Clark then allegedly got out of the car, physically assaulted the woman and tried to get her into the vehicle.

The woman managed to escape while Clark fled northbound on 13th Street toward Walnut Street, police said.

He then fled in a car — originally believed to also be red, but that is no longer the case — with an unknown Pennsylvania tag southbound on 12th Street and westbound on Spruce Street.
