Philadelphia Police Form First Team to Walk in Memory of Colleagues Lost to Suicide

For the first time, a contingent of Philadelphia Police officers formed a team Sunday morning to walk in Philadelphia's annual Out of the Darkness Walk in memory of colleagues they lost to suicide.

The Philadelphia Police team, named Cops for Life, had about 75 members that joined the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's annual Out of the Darkness Walk Sunday morning. The team includes family members, fellow officers and friends who walked to honor law-enforcement officers who have died by suicide.

The Philadelphia Police team joined nearly 5,000 participants in the walk, and raised $6,000 so far of nearly $500,000 raised via the walk.

The walk began with a ceremony at 8 a.m. at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and continued 3 miles along Martin Luther King Drive. Learn more and donate here.
