Storm Victims Not Pleased in Pleasantville

Day 8 of the heat wave was also Day 6 with no power for many South Jersey storm victims

Day 8 of the heat wave was also Day 6 with no power for many South Jersey storm victims, which makes coping even more difficult.

"Outside is like 100. Inside, 110," Abul Bashar told us. He lives in Pleasantville, Atlantic County. As the mercury rises, so do frustrations here, where Friday's overnight storms really hit hard.

On West Wright Road in Pleasantville, there is a massive amount of cleanup that needs tending to, but more than that, people just want their power back.

"First they said 4th of July, then 5th of July, now 6th of July," Bashar said. Everyday I call, they extend one day, so we don't know when."

Atlantic City Electric tells us they've brought in hundreds of extra workers from out-of-state to help.

County emergency managers say the water and ice distribution center at the Hamilton Mall has fewer cars than at the start of the week, which is a sign that the progress is being made. Shana Venegas is ready, and waiting:

"With three kids at home, it's a lot of work. I've missed work, my husband's off, so he's been gone a lot of time to help residents here."

The public information officer for Atlantic County tells NBC10's Katy Zachry that things are better -- that Senior Centers and libraries are back open and available for people who still don't have power.
