Store Partially Collapses in Center City

Part of a store came crashing down Sunday in Center City.

It happened at the 8th Street Music Center on Arch Street.

Mark Hershman, the building's owner, said two tons of brick from a neighboring building fell onto his roof.

The force of that collapse broke the sprinkler pipe inside and caused severe flooding in his store.

“It's a mess in there. We’ve got two feet of water in the basement, couple inches of water still running along the floor. This store is soaking wet. We haven't been on the second floor because the license and inspection man was here and he says it's very dangerous up there,” Mark Hershman said.

Hershman said they don't know yet the extent of the damage.

Officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
