State regulators have temporarily revoked a western Pennsylvania family doctor's license and closed his office after finding probable cause that he ordered too many prescription painkillers.

The (Kittanning) Leader-Times reports the Pennsylvania Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs says Dr. Terence E. Moore, of Ford City, took some of the pills in front of medical students in training and was staggering and slurred his speech while in the office.
The Armstrong County district attorney's office has confirmed a separate criminal investigation, though Moore has not been arrested or charged yet.
Moore's attorney, Christopher Capozzi, confirmed the license revocation and says the doctor disagrees with, but respects, the decision. He says Dr. Moore plans to contest the decision before an administrative judge or the state medical board.
