1 Dead, Another Hurt in Stabbing at Montgomery County Meat Rendering Facility

A fight between co-workers turned deadly after escalating into a double stabbing inside a Montgomery County, Pennsylvania meat rendering facility Wednesday morning, county prosecutors said.

The incident took place around 8:45 a.m. at the MOPAC meat rendering plant along the 700 block of Souder Road in Franconia. The facility processes fats from meat byproducts for dog food and other feed.

Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said two men, both co-workers, got into some type of altercation outside the plant. It eventually grew worse and both men were stabbed.

Danny Vazquez, 25, was rushed to Lansdale Hospital and later died, prosecutors said.

The other man, whose identity is being withheld, was airlifted to Paoli Hospital in critical condition with slash and stab wounds, according to officials. He is currently in surgery.

Steele said detectives believe he is responsible for the stabbing. Police recovered a knife at the scene.

A spokesman for JBS, which owns the facility, said the company is cooperating with authorities and offered condolences.

“We are providing counseling for our team members at that facility, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those involved," a statement read.

Steele said there is not a danger to the community.
