    What to Know

    • Three women got into an argument, possibly over social media, in Philadelphia's Brewerytown neighborhood late Monday.

    • A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death, while a 28-year-old woman was injured, police said.

    • Police searched into Tuesday for a 19-year-old woman who fled the scene.

A dispute, possibly sparked by social media postings, spilled onto a Philadelphia intersection with one woman stabbed to death and another injured.

Officers responded to 29th and Jefferson streets in the Brewerytown neighborhood just after 11:30 p.m. Monday, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

"We are told by numerous witnesses that there was fight involving the two female victims and a third female who committed the stabbing," Small said.

The officers found a 23-year-old woman stabbed several times, including once in the chest, Small said. She died a short time later at a hospital.

A 28-year-old woman was also stabbed multiple times in her head and arm and remained hospitalized Tuesday, upgraded to stable condition, Small said.

Investigators said the women apparently were arguing over social media beef, but further details were not disclosed.

“We’re getting some preliminary information that this was a fight that started over social media,” Small said.

Investigators believe they know who stabbed the women. A 19-year-old woman fled the scene on foot and remained at large Tuesday morning. It wasn't clear if she was injured in the altercation. Police have not named the teenager.
