Southern NJ Toddler Accidentally Drowns in Pool

Authorities say the drowning death of a southern New Jersey toddler at his grandmother's home appears to have been accidental.

Gloucester County prosecutors say a family friend started CPR on 18-month-old Kanye Wright of Glassboro shortly after he was found in an in-ground swimming pool at the Williamstown home around 11 a.m. Saturday. The boy was taken to Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Cherry Hill, where he died a short time later.

An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday.

Prosecutors say the boy's grandmother asked his two uncles - ages 14 and 16 - to watch him while she took a shower. But both teens apparently thought the other was caring for the child, who got out of the house and entered the fenced pool where the gate had been left open.
