Philly Soldier Killed in Afghanistan

Pfc. John Kihm of the Northeast Section of Philadelphia was killed Tuesday while serving in Afghanistan.

The 19-year-old soldier died in Kandahar province, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

The cause of death wasn’t disclosed.

Kihm was assigned to 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

The Cardinal Dougherty High School grad was deployed last month and planned to return to the states on leave in July, according to the Inquirer.
