GlaxoSmithKline is moving from Franklin Plaza to The Navy Yard.

Pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline will be moving from its Center City offices to new facilities at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The company’s North American President Deirdre Connelly spoke about the move and the proposed layout for the new offices at a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday.

In order to encourage better and faster communication, the complex will feature open spaces, with multiple employees sharing large tables rather than cubicles and private offices. The different workspaces in the office will often be unassigned, and even high-level executives will work within this paradigm, reports the Inquirer.

"It's kind of lonely sometimes when you're in a corner in a big office and it's kind of quiet. When you need quiet, we'll have quiet rooms, if you need to think and analyze," Connelly told the paper after the groundbreaking.

Representatives of GlaxoSmithKline say they are looking forward to moving into the $80 million office space within the next two years, according to the Inquirer.
