Plane Crashes Near Princeton, N.J.

Mechanical problems apparently caused a small plane to crash Saturday in central New Jersey, but no injuries were reported.

Two people were aboard the fixed wing, single-engine Cessna CO-172 when it came down around 11 a.m. in a field in Rocky Hill, about a quarter mile from Princeton Airport.

The plane was registered to a Hunterdon County couple, but it was unclear whether they were the people on board.

The plane reportedly experienced engine power failure shortly before it came down, according to Jim Peters, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman. However, it was not immediately known if the plane was headed to Princeton Airport or another facility.
