Police are on the hunt for a man who they say was involved in a wild car chase in North Philadelphia.

It began Thursday night around 7 p.m. when narcotics officers in the middle of a drug bust approached a man in a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Police say the suspect suddenly fled the scene, leading to a police chase. As officers pursued the suspect, investigators say the man crashed his vehicle into parked cars and a police cruiser on Kip Street.

Police say the man rammed his Trailblazer into the cop car to move it out of the road and also fired shots at officers who were nearby. Police returned fire but the suspect managed to clear a path for himself and escape. Police could not confirm whether or not the suspect was hit during the shootout.

The man’s vehicle is registered to an address in Upper Darby, according to investigators. Police have not yet released a description of the suspect.
