Man Shot 9 Times, 2 Teens Shot as Gunfire Rings Out Across City

Separate shootings come after deadly shooting outside peace concert

A violent night left one dead, one shot nine times and two teens injured in three separate Philadelphia neighborhoods.

Gunfire rang out just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday inside a home on the 4500 block of Bouvier Street in the city’s Germantown neighborhood.

Officers arrived to find a 28-year-old man in a second-floor bedroom of a row home converted to apartments.

“(He) was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to torso, chest and both legs,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Medics rushed the man in critical but stable condition, Small said they expect the man to survive despite being shot up to nine times.

Small said a 1-year-old was inside the home during the shooting. The child wasn’t struck.

Witnesses told police that three men could be seen fleeing in different directions from the scene.

Small said narcotics paraphernalia found inside the home leads investigators to believe that the shooting could be drug-related. No exact motive was given for the shooting.

About one hour earlier, officers responded to 10th and Bainbridge Streets in the Bella Vista section of South Philadelphia.

They found two 18-year-old victims suffering from gunshots wounds near the Palumbo Recreation Center. One of the men was on a bicycle while the other was running away from the scene, according to investigators.

Both victims were rushed to Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition.

Small said investigators found 11 shell casings at the scene. He said it wasn’t clear if either victim was the intended target or if one or both men were struck by stray bullets.

Small said investigators would pour over surveillance video from both shooting scenes in an attempt to identify suspects.

These two shootings came hours after a shooting outside an “anti-violence” concert at the Dell Music Center in Fairmount Park that left a 20-year-old man dead.

Anyone with information on any of the shootings is asked to contact Philadelphia Police.
