Armored Guard Kills Unarmed Attacker Inside Family Dollar Store: Police

An unarmed man was shot to death when he walked into the Family Dollar Store on Germantown Avenue and grabbed an armored guard around the neck and tried to take his money.

A second armored guard shot the attacker four times, according to police.

Neighbors say the man's name was Maurice and that he lived in an apartment across the street from the store where he had just argued with his landlord and a witness.

"Why can't Blacks and Hispanics get along," Maurice, who was visibly upset, said to the witness.

That was around 9:45 a.m. when two armored guards in a Garda truck were outside the store. They walked into the Family Dollar in the 5200 block of Germantown Ave. and Maurice went in after them. He attacked the one guard, trying to get his money bag, according to police and the other guard opened fire.

Maurice was rushed to Einstein hospital where he died.
