Shooter Opens Fire Outside Bar

Man injured in shooting

The News Journal reports that a 23-year-old man was shot outside a bar in Bear, De., early Saturday morning.

A shooter opened fire outside the Las Palmeras bar in the 1900 block of Pulaski Highway at 3:25 a.m.  Officers arived on the scene to discover that a 1988 Ford Explorer had been struck by two bullets. Two women inside the vehicle were not harmed. The shooter shot out the windows of a Pizza Riviera on the 100 block of Fox Hunt Drive.

Later, at 9:30 a.m., Delaware State Police were contacted by Chester, Pa., Police Department, who said that a man who had been shot in the incident went to Chester Crozier Hospital. The victim, a New Castle resident, had received a gunshot to the thigh and calf -- injuries that were not considered to be life threatening.

Police in Chester say that he told them initially that he was shot while buying drugs but the officers learned that he was in fact shot at the Bear bar incident.
