She's Wrapped Buildings, Cars and Planes: Meet the Queen of King-Sized Bows

Lynda King keeps a file full of business ideas on her desk — some good, some not so good. But every once in a while, King sits down and goes through that file over a cup of coffee, and in 2000, she found gold.

The idea she found in the file was simple. It read: "bows for cars." About 12 years before, King and her husband bought their daughter a car. To make the gift more special, King wanted to purchase an oversized bow to put on the car. She looked everywhere and couldn't find the bow she was looking for, so she made it herself. That's when it hit her: Oversized bows for cars could be a potential business. So she stuck it in the idea file.

When she opened the file years later, after she sold her first business, King still thought the bow idea could work. She called 10 auto dealers to ask if they knew where she could purchase a bow for a car. Nine of the 10 dealerships said they wished they knew where to point her because they got that question all the time. That's when it clicked for King.
