Sex Abuse Charges for Ex-Congressman's Grandson

The grandson of a former U.S. congressman now faces federal sex tourism charges in addition to molestation charges filed over the summer.

Federal prosecutors say John Charles Ware, of Oxford, took two teenage boys out of the country and had sexual contact with them. According to the indictment, the trips to Italy and Iceland were scheduled for the boys' birthdays.

The 47-year-old Ware is a grandson of the late John H. Ware 3d, a county businessman who served in Congress and the state Senate.

Prosecutors in Chester County charged Ware over the summer with sexually abusing three teens. He had been free on $1.3 million bail before being arrested again Friday.

Ware works at a family philanthropic foundation. A message left for his attorney Monday was not immediately returned.
