Sewage Leak in Tredyffrin Township

The pipeline is within Valley Forge National Park, and authorities aren't sure when it started leaking

Crews are working to clean up a sewage leak in Tredyffrin Township. They don't know exactly when the leak began, but estimate it's probably been going for a couple days, according to John Waterman, park ranger.

The leak was first reported on Saturday, when people noticed small bubbles coming from the ground and water running into Valley Creek, Waterman said.

The leak has been isolated, but officials aren't sure yet how large it is. Two divers will go inside the main sewer line to find the leak, and check out the size.

The sewage is being pumped out by tanker trucks and taken to a local water treatment plant, Waterman said.

There is no reported fish kill at Valley Creek, which is one of only five cold water streams in the state. It is still open for fishing.
