Sentencing Testimony Begins in Cop-Shooting Case

Jurors to decide whether two men deserve the death penalty for Officer Liczbinksi's death

Testimony is set to begin in the sentencing phase of the trial for two men convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a Philadelphia police officer.

Jurors begin hearing testimony Monday to decide whether 41-year-old Levon Warner and 35-year-old Eric Floyd deserve the death penalty or life in prison for the murder of Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski. The officer was shot to death during a pursuit following a bank robbery.

Last week, the jury convicted Warner and Floyd on all counts in Liczbinski's May 2008 death.

Authorities say the suspects were in a getaway car with another man who shot and killed Liczbinski in the city's Port Richmond neighborhood. Howard Cain later died in a shootout with police.
