Security Guard Shot After Refusing Entry to Patron

A man trying to get into a closed bar got into an argument with a security guard then opened fire on the man, according to Philadelphia Police.

The scene played out around 3:45 a.m. Monday at Candela's Bar and Restaurant located in a strip mall at Adams Avenue and Tabor Road in the city’s Crescentville section.

During the argument, the irate man picked up a milk crate and threw it into the glass façade of the bar.

The man then came back a few minutes later allegedly armed with another weapon.

“He returned and he fired a few shots into the door… the security guard was struck with a graze wound to the face area, his cheek,” said Philadelphia Police Cpt. Michael Gormley.

Gormley said a woman inside the bar also suffered injuries but it wasn’t clear if she was hit by bullets, glass or hurt in another way.
