2nd Man Admits Guilt in Slaying of NJ Couple

The couple was tortured, killed then buried in a backyard in Camden in 2010.

A second suspect has admitted a role in the brutal 2010 slaying of a couple in Camden.

Twenty-year-old Darryl Pierre of Merchantville pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of aggravated manslaughter.

He admitted to helping kill and cover up the deaths of 18-year-old Muriah Huff, of Cinnaminson, and 23-year-old Michael Hawkins, of Mount Holly.

The couple was killed Feb. 22, 2010 after being tortured. Authorities found them buried in the backyard of a home in Camden after receiving a tip.

Police said Pierre was a member of the Bloods gang and that the gang had a dispute with Hawkins, who was believed to have been a member of the rival Crips.

He's expected to receive a 30-year prison sentence.

There are nine other defendants in the case. One, 14-year-old Shatara Carter, pleaded guilty to a role in the killing. The others are awaiting trial.
