Seatbelt Safety: Devra's Story

Every now and then we get an e-mail that defines why we do this show. And this one is it.

"On the morning of may third, 1989, a news story aired about seat belts... I had never worn a seat belt prior to watching that story. That morning I left the house wearing a seat belt and i was in a rollover accident in a mustang convertible. The seat belt saved my life."

Devra didn't know where she'd seen that seatbelt story.

So she wrote  many TV networks and affiliates, trying to find out who aired it -- more than 20 year ago!

We happened to see Devra's e-mail.

And did some digging in our archives.

And we discovered NBC10 was the station that aired the story.

We tracked down Devra, now living in St. Louis, to tell her.

Devra says she wanted to track down the story that saved her life -- so she can write her own article about her experience.

She's hoping her lesson learned -- will save more lives.
