Robotics Club Raising Funds for World Championships

The Norristown School Board will hold a special session to approve the trip, once team from Eisenhower Science and Technology Academy raises $8,000

The Robotics Club of Eisenhower Science and Technology Academy needs to raise $8,000 to be able to attend the World Robotics Championships, being held late April in Anaheim, Ca.

Last week, the team was told by the Norristown School District that they wouldn't be able to go. But then there was a change of heart.

At Monday's night's school board meeting, the students were told as long as they raised the funds, the board would hold a special session to approve the trip, according to Nan Odenthal, Grants and Public Relations Manager for Norristown School District.

"Kids are different. Some are athletic, some are artistic, but these kids found a niche. They found something that they love," said Beth Roth, Technology and Robotics Coordinator.

Donations have already starting coming in, Odenthal told NBC10, but more funds are needed to make it to $8,000.
