SWAT Standoff in Montco

Police say they were trying to serve a warrant on an Upper Providence house before standoff began

While attempting to serve a warrant on a home in Upper Providence, a S.W.A.T. team faced a standoff situation Thursday night.

Police surrounded the house on Orchard Court near Lewis Road by about 10:30 p.m. and evacuated nearby homes.

Montgomery County authorities say a man was taken out of the house.

According to police, the man shot himself in the mouth. The bullet exited through the top of his head.

He has been transported via medical chopper to Hahnemann University Hospital where he is in critical condition.

Montgomery County bomb squad is searching the property. Neighbors have been let back in their homes.
