At Least 31 Hurt as SEPTA Trolley, Paratransit Bus and SUV Collide

Crash closes intersection of 41st Street and Chester Avenue

A SEPTA paratransit bus and an SUV crashed into a packed trolley in West Philadelphia Tuesday leaving at least 31 people hurt.

The CCT bus and SUV collided at 41st Street and Chester Avenue around 11:45 a.m. then continued into the Center City-bound Route 13 trolley, SEPTA spokeswoman Heather Redfern said.

The trolley driver and 27 passengers on board complained of injuries, SEPTA said. The bus driver and passenger, as well as the SUV driver, also complained of pain, Redfern said.

Philadelphia police accident investigators don't believe any of the injuries to be life-threatening.

SEPTA diverted trolleys on routes 10, 11, 13, 34, 36 as crews tended to the injured and cleared the scene.
