SEPTA Sex Assault Suspect Also Raped Teen Girl: Cops

A man who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a SEPTA station was arrested again on Monday for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.

A man who was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at a SEPTA station was arrested again on Monday for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.

Joseph Woods, 41, was arrested back on June 14. Police say Woods attacked and raped a 21-year-old woman after they both got off the SEPTA Broad Street Line at Lehigh Avenue on May 26. Police say surveillance video led to his arrest. He was charged with rape, robbery and other related offenses for that incident.

During a press conference today, police announced Woods was arrested again on Monday, this time for the rape of an underage girl.

On March 14, police say Woods approached a 15-year-old girl who was leaving the Broad Street Line at Allegheny Avenue. Woods allegedly dragged her into an alley on the 3200 block of North 15th Street and raped her.

Police say the investigation in the March 14 incident went cold until Woods was arrested for the sexual assault of the 21-year-old. Police say Woods matched the description the 15-year-old girl gave. They took a DNA sample after his June 14 arrest and identified him as the same man who raped the teen girl.

Woods was charged with statutory rape for the March 14 incident.
