SEPTA Introduces SEPTA Key Cards For Easier Travel

Public transportation just got a lot easier.

SEPTA announced the beginning of the transition of the SEPTA Key, a card that promises to make your trip quicker and simpler.

β€œWe’re excited about the flexibility and options the SEPTA Key Card will offer our customers,” SEPTA officials wrote on the transit authority's website.

The Key is a card that can be detected by key validators that are already installed at some stations. SEPTA said the card validators will be installed at all bus, trolley, trackless trolley, and Norristown High Speed Line fare boxes.

The cards will be available as reloadable fare cards or single-ride fares.

The transition will happen in two stages, according to SEPTA. The first step will include Transit (buses, trolleys, trackless trolleys, and high speed lines) in 2015, and Regional Rail and the CCT Connect Paratransit services will follow in 2016.

β€œWhile we may be breaking new ground for the industry, today our only focus is making certain everything works together as designed so that we can offer seamless travel across the SEPTA service region in the near future,” SEPTA's website said of the change.
