Swastikas Reappear in Residence Hall at Rowan University

Officials at a southern New Jersey university say swastikas reappeared in a dormitory one week after they were discovered with other anti-Semitic markings carved into wooden doors in a residence hall.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports  this time, the swastikas found on Dec. 10 were etched into the sides of a stairwell at Rowan University. Officials say the first set of markings was discovered on Dec. 3.

University President Ali Houshmand says in an email alert to students that the university will not stand for intolerance and the recent acts are counter to the university's values.

Doors were sanded and repaired, and a staff member held a meeting that night with about two dozen students after the first swastikas appeared. About 100 students attended a meeting after the latest incident.
