Driver Leaves Deadly Crash Along Busy Route 73 in South Jersey

A crash that appeared to be a hit-and-run left a person dead in the middle of a busy South Jersey roadway overnight.

Julian Sanchez, 27, was struck around 12:35 a.m. Friday in the southbound lanes of Route 73 near Route 38 — not far from Laurel Lanes and the Lowe’s — Maple Shade police said.

The Pine Hill resident died at the scene.

The driver left the scene but later drove to a nearby police station and cooperated with investigators, police said. The driver wasn't immediately charged.

Police closed part of the roadway for more than five hours as they investigated the circumstances around the crash but reopened it before the morning rush.
