Chain-Reaction Pileup on the Boulevard

A six-car pileup snarled traffic overnight along one of the area’s busiest roadways.

The accident began when an sport utility vehicle and car collided just before midnight causing the SUV to flip over on the southbound side of the Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. Route 1) just past Fox Street in Philadelphia's East Falls neighborhood.

The initial crash led to a chain-reaction crash that claimed another four vehicles, according to Philadelphia Police.

Investigators on the scene said that two people were hurt with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway remained closed for about 45 minutes until one lane began to get by.

All was clear in plenty of time for the morning rush.
