Friends and family are mourning a SEPTA supervisor who died in a crash on Roosevelt Boulevard early Saturday morning.
A woman was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala in the right lane of the Boulevard off ramp to I-76 eastbound around 2:20 a.m. Saturday. At the same time, Ivan Quarterman, 52, of Sicklerville, was driving a 2004 BMW 325 at a high speed in the left lane, according to investigators. Police say Quarterman lost control of his vehicle and struck the Impala. The impact caused the BMW to strike a concrete barrier on the right shoulder and overturn several times.
Quarterman, who police say was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police have not yet revealed whether the woman was seriously injured in the crash but say no charges will be filed against her.
SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel confirmed with NBC10 Quarterman was a SEPTA transportation supervisor who was off-duty at the time of the accident.
