Robbers Attack Father of the Bride: Police

A father preparing for his daughter’s wedding was allegedly beaten during an attempted robbery in New Castle, DE on Saturday around 5:32 p.m.

The 46-year-old man suffered a broken arm and multiple facial bruises before escaping the attackers.

The man claims that he was preparing for his daughter’s wedding and had walked outside of his car when three men approached him on the 1600 block of New Jersey Ave.

One of the suspects allegedly pulled out a shotgun and attempted to rob the man as the other two surrounded him.

When the man tried to run off, the suspect with the shotgun hit him in the face with the butt of the weapon. As he continued to swing at him, the victim blocked the blows with his arm and screamed for help. The suspects then ran off without any cash.

The suspect with the shotgun is described as a black man between 6-foot and 6-foot-2, 200 pounds with dark eyes and black hair. The other two suspects are described as black men.

The man also claims that he was robbed in August in the same area though he’s not sure if it was by the same men. The man went to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a broken arm.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects should contact the New Castle Police Department at 395-8110 or Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333.
