Ringworm Closes Delco SPCA

A ringworm outbreak has forced the Delaware County SPCA to close for at least a week.

The SPCA shut its doors on Wednesday to treat infected animals and to clean and eliminate the fungus from the building, reports the Delaware County Daily Times.

β€œWe’re choosing to close our doors because we don’t want to put the community at risk and we don’t want to perform unsuccessful adoptions. Our loyalty lies in the community and we will not reopen until ringworm is completely out of the shelter,” said SPCA Director of Community Relations Justina Calgiano to the paper.

The SPCA says it will happily provide treatment for any SPCA-adopted animals that develop ringworm.

The Delco SPCA expects to reopen on Nov. 6.
