Riders Stuck on Dorney Park Coaster

Coaster riders were stuck on the Stinger at Dorney Park after the ride stopped seconds after it started.

Riders of Dorney Park's new Stinger coaster got a longer ride than they expected. They were stuck on the ride for about 90 minutes on May 25.

Dorney Park spokesperson Carrie Basta told NBC10 the computer that operates the coaster sent a mechanical alert in error and shut down the ride.

As mechanics worked to release the ride, operations staff kept in contact with the riders and delivered water to them, according to Basta.

A park visitor captured the scene on video and posted it on YouTube.

Basta told NBC10 the rides are inspected by the park's maintenance staff everyday and guest safety is their top priority.
