The long-awaited time has come when tourists can finally enjoy all that Revel has to offer.
The Revel in Atlantic City opened most of its beachfront to the public on Wednesday, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
The $2.4-billion mega-resort was forced to delay the opening of its beachfront because of New Jersey’s $8.4 million project to protect its shores from storms.
Construction had rendered the shore useless since the newest Atlantic City Casino opened on May 25, 2012.
The Revel could benefit from the reopening of its beach after ranking 8th out of the 12 A.C. casinos in terms of gambling revenue for the third month in a row.
“It’s going to be very, very helpful, even though there’s only about a month of the (summer) season left,” said Kevin DeSanctis, Revel’s chief executive officer.
The Department of Environmental Protection said the Revel oceanfront consists of the beach between the Massachusetts Avenue jetty and the Garden Pier at New Jersey Ave.
The construction project will help protect newly replenished beaches from being swept out to sea and preserve its coastline from damage from strong waves.
