Masked Sex Offender Rapes Elderly Delaware Beach Woman, Makes Escape on Moped: Police

A home invader wearing a mask used his moped to flee the scene after making unwanted sexual advances toward an elderly Delaware woman early Monday.

Delaware State Police arrested David Elder after the 43-year-old’s wife called 911 about the attack in Rehoboth Beach.

Elder’s wife became aware of the alleged attack after the 78-year-old victim called her after recognizing the electric-powered bicycle, said police. As Elder returned to his Lewes home, his wife called 911, said police.

Investigators found that Elder used a key to enter the woman’s home – Elder is familiar with the woman – around 12:45 a.m. and began to make unwanted sexual advances while wearing a mask, said police.

When police arrived at Elder’s home they found the mask and put him under arrest on rape, burglary and related charges. Elder – who is a Tier 2 registered sex offender stemming from a 1993 conviction – was held on $226,000 cash bond. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
