Record Electricity Use with Today's Temps

With temperatures finally reaching 90 degrees today, PECO is expecting the highest energy usage of the year by 6 p.m. today.

Monday’s electric consumption was already on the rise, with 139,162,000 kilowatt hours used in the Philadelphia area.

This is only the third day this year PECO reports having an energy demand higher than 7,000 megawatts, as the summer has been mild and relatively cool.

Though PECO recorded 7,164 megawatts already used by 3 p.m. today, it is still well below the all time record of Aug. 3, 2006’s 8,932 megawatts.
