The Grinch Tries to Steal a Little Boy's Christmas

But they couldn't take away the 5-year-old's holiday spirit

When thieves made off with every single gift under the Christmas tree of one family in New Castle County, Delaware, it was the five-year-old who turned it into a teaching moment.

"I wanted to throw up," the father, who didn't want to be identified, told us. "I started to shake, and cry; just flipping out."

Burglars had kicked down the family's door and made off with their TV and other valuables. They also took every single gift under the tree, most of which were for their five-year old son. As the two went from room to room, realizing what all had been taken, the little boy comforted his dad with these words:

"Guess what Daddy, at least they didn't take our beds and our Christmas tree."

"I wanted to fall to my knees," his Dad said.

Police are investigating that breakin and one across the hall at the Village of Windover apartments Tuesday afternoon.

Frank Sanchez, the father of the second victim, said his daughter was traumatized but they're grateful no one was home at the time.
