Reading Hospital Emergency Room Briefly Locked Down

Discharged patient thought he saw shooter in parking lot

The emergency room at The Reading Hospital was briefly placed on lockdown Sunday morning after a discharged patient thought he saw the man who had shot him in the hospital's parking lot.

A hospital spokesman said that the victim was discharged from the hospital at around 10 a.m. Sunday after receiving treatment for a gunshot wound. On his way out, the man, whose name has not been released, thought he saw the shooter in the parking lot.

The man went back into the building and alerted hospital staff, who called police and placed the emergency room on lockdown as a precaution. Police were unable to locate the man and the lockdown was later lifted.

The spokesman said that the rest of the hospital was not affected by the disruption and everything is currently operating as normal.
