The Delaware River and other local bodies of water are flooding after quick storms blew through the area Thursday.
Meteorologist Dave Warren says that this latest influx of water is not flash flooding but tidal and coastal flooding.
The combination of rain upstream and the new moon has caused the floods, Warren says. High tide on the Delaware River in Philadelphia happened at 3:50 p.m., right around the time that water began to show up where it is unwanted.
Philadelphia:
The area at Columbus Boulevard and Spring Garden Street was flooded beginning at 4:15 p.m.
Both lanes on Admiral Wilson Boulevard are flooded, making traffic slow to a crawl.
New Jersey:
Officials in Camden County say that that Brooklawn Circlenear Rouet 130 and Route 47 was covered in water at about 4:30 p.m.
The ramp connecting the eastbound Commodore Barry Bridge with Route 130 South in Logan Township is closed because of flooding.
The waters should begin to recede by Thursday evening, Warren says. The coastal flood advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.
