Probe Into Suspicious Death Leads to Child Porn Charge

Federal prosecutors say an investigation into a suspicious death at a New Jersey home has led to child pornography charges being filed against a Pennsylvania man.

Derrick Baer, a 32-year-old Bath resident who formerly lived in Pohatcong, New Jersey, is accused of receiving and possessing child porn. He faces 30 years in prison if convicted on both counts, and it wasn't known Saturday if he's retained an attorney.

Prosecutors say Baer allegedly downloaded hundreds of child porn images and 29 videos. They say the items were found on computer equipment that was seized with Baer's consent in May 2010, as part of an investigation into the death of Baer's 30-year-old girlfriend at their Pohatcong home.

Investigators say Baer downloaded the images and videos in January and February 2009.
