Prius Strikes, Kills Man on Route 55 in New Jersey

A Toyota Prius struck a man walking in the right lane of a busy South Jersey highway, killing the pedestrian early Saturday morning.

The crash occurred in the right northbound lane of Route 55 near mile marker 54.3 in Mantua Township around 5 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police.

The man was pronounced deat on the scene, said authorities, who have yet to identify the victim as they are still working to notify family members.

The crash remains under investigation. No charges are pending at this time.
