Pregnant Pet Cow Murdered

Police believe the 12-year-old pregnant cow was killed with a handgun.

The owner of a pet cow woke up Wednesday morning to discover someone had shot and killed the animal overnight.

Holly Sollenberger, who owns French Creek Farm in East Vincent Township, Chester County was confused and saddened that someone would murder the animal she considered part of the family, reports the Daily Local.

The bovine, a 12-year-old Guernsey cow named ‘Happy,’ was Sollenberger’s son’s 4-H project of nine years.

The red and white cow was also set to give birth this month.

The Township’s Police Department believes the cow was shot with a handgun around 1:30 a.m. when neighbors reported hearing four to five gunshots, according to the Daily Local.

“It killed her instantly,” Sollenberger said of finding her pet  by the side of Bertolet School Road, reports the Daily Local .

A state game commission officer suggested the cow may have been shot accidentally by a deer hunter, but Sollenberger and Township police believe the assault was deliberate.

“I just want the person caught,” she told the Daily Local.

This case is ongoing and police ask anyone with information to call 610-933-0115.
