Popular Del. Business Owner, Wife Murdered

Police, still searching for clues, have yet to make an arrest or name suspect

New Castle County Police are trying to figure out who killed a popular North Wilmington business owner and his new wife.

Joe Connell, 39, and his 46-year-old wife Olga were murdered late Saturday night or early Sunday morning in the Paladin Club Apartments in Wilmington, according to authorities.

Police say witnesses heard shouting and then gunshots.

Connell was the co-owner of C & S Auto Service on route 202 and his wife was the receptionist.

Police have spoken with Christopher Rivers, Connell's business partner, but have yet to name any suspects or make arrests related to the murders.

However, Rivers was arrested after police say they found a bag of steroids and needles above a ceiling tile during a search on Sunday.

Rivers' lawyer tells NBC10 the steroids did not belong to his client and that Rivers doesn't know who killed the Connells.

Gary Greenberg, a friend of the couple, said he doesn't know who would do this to the couple, but says the murders can't be random.

"Somebody had it in for him," he said. "Hopefully, the truth comes out and we'll all know."

Detectives are looking for help from the public with this case. Anyone with information is asked to call the New Castle County Police Department.
