Anne Bailey’s, a popular bridal shop in Fountainville, Pa. is set to close, according to the Philly Burbs.
Philly Burbs reports the shop, located on the intersection of Swamp and Ferry roads, where Plumstead, Doylestown, and New Britain townships meet is scheduled to be torn down later this year.
Since 1976, store owner Anne Bailey, 77, has brought 25,000 square feet of joy to the brides, bridesmaids, and prom attendees that shop the designer collections of her store.
On its busiest weekend, 86 brides were said to be seen. Come Dec. 17, the Fountainville store will no longer take orders for dresses, and only serve customers whose dresses are yet to be delivered, according to the Philly Burbs.
Anne’s daughter Gale is currently running the shops day-to- day activities while her mother rests.
The Philly Burbs reports Anne decided to make the decision to sell the property earlier this month and was happy to bring the business to a close.
Once hiring over 80 employees, Anne Bailey’s store now employs less than 10 and sees the same amount of brides weekly.
The store will close the week of Thanksgiving to prepare for a closing sale starting Nov. 29.
Anne was the recipient of the DEBI Award for business excellence from the National Bridal Market and the local winner for the outstanding achievement from the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce in 1989.
According to Gale the new plans for the property include a dedication to her mother. The new retail mall, said to include a bank and shopping center, will be called Bailey Corner.
