Sex Offender Fondles Popeyes Employees: Cops

Fifty-year-old suspect has a record including sexual assault on a minor, authorities say

A Bucks County fast food shift manger is in jail after allegedly fondling his underage employees.

On Monday at 3:15 p.m., Bensalem Police arrested 50-year-old Eduardo Tomasek during his shift at the Popeyes restaurant at 2160 Street Rd.

After a 2-month investigation, authorities say that Tomasek allegedly fondled and inappropriately touched at least three female employees between the ages of 15 and 16. He also allegedly supplied them with gifts and money, cops said.

"He would walk by them and brush himself up against them," Bensalem Police Sgt. Andrew Aninsman said.

It turns out that the former Florida resident is listed on the Sunshine State's Megan's Law registry.

Tomasek was convicted in April 1993 in Escambia County, Florida for lewd and lascivious indecent assault of a child under 16 years old stemming from a Dec. 1992 incident, according to Florida Sex Offender Registry officials.

He served 6-½ years, according to officials.

Tomasek also served 15 months for a 2000 conviction for credit card fraud and grand theft, said Florida officials.

He was arraigned Monday on the most recent charges and sent to Bucks County Prison on lieu of $250,000 bail. He is charged with indecent assault, unlawful contact with minors and other related offenses.

A media person for Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen released the following statement about the arrest:

"Popeyes in no way condones or tolerates any form of inappropriate conduct. We have contacted the franchisee to ensure that the franchisee is investigating these serious allegations and will continue to monitor the situation closely."

The Bensalem Special Victims Unit believes that there could be other victims and they continue to investigate.
